Town Marshal | Nashville Police Department

The Nashville Town Council is accepting applications for the position of Town Marshal for the Nashville Police Department. This key leadership role oversees all police operations within the community.

Annual Salary | $70,000––$75,000, determined based on qualifications and experience.

Town Marshal Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning | Directing and leading the activities and functions of the Nashville Police Department.

  • Community Engagement | Maintaining and developing positive relationships with the local community, elected officials, and the media.

  • Operational Oversight | Familiarity with the operational and policy issues associated with a small law enforcement agency, particularly in a high tourist traffic environment.

  • Covering Shifts | The Town Marshal will cover shifts as needed.

Requirements

  • At least ten years of experience in various assignments within a police department.

  • Experience managing others in a public safety position.

  • Must meet all requirements for Indiana Police Officer Certification or obtain certification within six months of employment.

  • Valid Indiana State Driver's license.

  • Candidates will undergo a comprehensive background investigation.

  • Candidates must live within Brown County limits or be willing to move to Brown County, Indiana, within six (6) months of hire.

Work Environment
The Nashville Police Department focuses on community engagement and is not a 24/7 department. The Town Marshal will be a "working Marshal," actively involved in departmental operations, especially during weekends, holidays, and peak tourist seasons. The department currently consists of three full-time officers, one part-time officer, one officer in training, and four unpaid reserve officers.
